Sculpture + Movie = Clay Animation (Senior Level)

Clay Animation isn't really a new technique at all. Clay animation began a short time after the invention of a clay-like substance called plasticine. Plasticine was invented in 1897, and one of the first actual films to use clay was in 1902 using clay for lightning sculpting. In the site Getting Started in Clay Animation, you will find interesting facts, ideas and steps to create your own clay animation. Just scroll down for an overview, or click on one of the topics to go directly to a specific area. Also check out the "TryThis" page for his advice about clay animating and our "In Detail" page, which is full of tips and tricks for when you get the hang of it.
