Zine-Making for Kids

Zines, fanzines, alternative comics, and graphic novels

What’s a Zine?
A zine is a handmade, self-published, designed magazine with a strong focus on personal interests and creative design.  Zine artists tend to use inexpensive production techniques such as photocopying, and distribute copies through local or personal networks.  Zines usually have more than one issue and some zines have a high visual quality which makes use of cartooning and animation in adult themes.  These zines are also known as alternative comics, and when a complete story is told in one volume, it is known as a graphic novel.
